About the Bucks...

The New Town Bucks have been in existence for over 80 years and we are currently playing in the premier club competition in Tasmania, Australia. The club has three senior men’s teams, ten junior teams and one junior girl’s team.

The Bucks home ground is situated 5 minutes north of Hobart city centre and boasts a ten pitch playing square, turf nets, synthetic nets and a small gymnasium. From our club rooms we have views of Mt. Wellington and the Derwent River. The Bucks have a policy of welcoming new members of all ages & ability levels, regardless of religion, or gender, encompassing all sections of society, whilst keeping a local feel to all its sides.

Over the years the club has had three Australian representatives in our playing ranks in being Roger Wooley, Joe Darling and Len Maddocks. We have had countless numbers of Tasmanian State cricketers at all levels playing for the club and currently we have fast bowler Tim MacDonald in the Tasmanian Tigers State team.

The club has a flourishing youth section. Young cricketers can join the club from age 6 upwards and are coached (by Cricket Australia qualified coaches) in groups based on the child’s ability. Junior teams are organised from under 11’s to the under 17 age groups, allowing young cricketers to develop their skills in stages, until at 17, they are expected to be challenging for places in the Club’s senior XI’s.

After a lean few years the club is heading firmly in the right direction. We have expanded our coaching staff for the up-coming 2008-2009 season and invested thousands of dollars on playing facilities and training equipment in the hope of establishing ourselves as a power house in the T.C.A. for years to come.
